The top three things we can NOT go without in today’s horrible economy:  food, shelter, and American Idol.  Selling over 80% of its tickets, and grossing over $11 million dollars, The Idols Live tour is even more popular than it was last year, when one of its most original contestants, David Cook, was rocking audiences everywhere.  And with tickets ranging from $40.50 to $69.50, costing more than last year, it is clear that even though we may not be able to spend money on designer labels, we can surely fit tickets to the most popular Idol Tour yet into our budget.

Although TV ratings fell somewhat, Season 8 proved to be the most amazing season yet.  Maybe that is why we don’t mind spending our money on the Top 10 finalists.  Or could it be that the largely populated female audience of American Idol is just swooning over winner Kris Allen?  His renditions of “Heartless” and “Falling Slowly” would make any teenage girl beg their parents to buy them concert tickets.  Better yet, maybe Adam Lambert’s unbelievably devoted fan base is forcing ticket sales to remain at the same level as last season’s lineup.  Let’s be honest, even I would pay to see him sing “Mad World” one more time.
